Coming Soon-Birding with Ian & Brian
Why Another Website?
Like Brian, many of our readers pursue birding as a major part of their adventuring life. For those readers, the adventure stories often beg for more bird‑specific detail — species, families, encounters, habitats, and the quiet moments that make birding so meaningful.
Since Brian is a long‑time birder with decades of experience, this new site is a natural extension of Adventuring with Ian & Brian. It gives birding the space it deserves.
If you’re interested in birding, hang on — we’ll be online soon.
The New Website Structure
Like Adventuring, this site will eventually include commercial features such as a members area and a store. But right now, the structure is focused entirely on content. A future blog post will explain how the commercial features fit in. Here’s how the site looks today:
A global storytelling project exploring the beauty, mystery, and meaning of the world’s birds — through encounters, journeys, and reflections. That’s the heart of it.
Home Page — A guided overview of the entire site.
My Birding Trips — Factual accounts of Brian’s birding trips: where, when, who, what, and which families were seen. Available to all.
Zen Reflections — Birding as a spiritual practice. Reflections on presence, meaning, and the Spirit of the Universe. Most of these will be for members.
Stories Collection — Birding stories by all three authors (Ian, Brian, Ian Andcompany). Emotional, reflective, and narrative. A members section will be added here.
Bird Families — Brian’s journey to see at least one member of each bird family in the world. Presented in taxonomic order. Factual and available to all.
Global Birding Background — Brian’s understanding of global birding: taxonomy, institutions, tools, and how his knowledge developed.
About — The usual.
Contact — The usual.
The Way Forward
The site currently includes:
3 birding trip accounts
1 Zen reflection
4 birding stories
3 bird family accounts
Before we go live, we’ll add member areas to both Zen Reflections and the Stories Collection. Those areas will launch with:
2 additional Zen reflections
3 additional birding stories
And just like the Adventuring site, we’ll expand our offerings over time:
downloadable PDFs
podcasts spoken by Brian
short YouTube videos
Eventually, there will also be a store specializing in items and services that birders love
Stay with us — I think our spirits will sing.
